TNPC building use update
By Byron BlackTNPC members may not fully recognize it, but our church buildings are a center of constant activity. Several different groups are using our physical plant for a variety of purposes. For instance, the choir is now rehearsing on Wednesday nights. On September 16th, we resumed Wednesday All-Church Night, with its dinners, Pioneer Clubs, and Bible studies.
Certain non-TNPC groups use our buildings as well. The Richardson home school co-op has begun regular Thursday classes with over 150 students. During this school year, the Boy Scouts are having regular Monday night meetings in the Christian Education (CE) building. This means that more than 100 Scouts and their leaders are in the CE building and the courtyard area every Monday night. Finally, our neighbors at the Coptic Church are meeting on Sundays in the CE building just after our regularly scheduled worship service ends.
More activities and more foot traffic are good things to have. However, they also mean that more responsibility is placed on each member of TNPC. Please join me in keeping our facilities clean and neat. That means if you move something; you must put it back where you found it. If you see some trash, please pick it up and toss it in the garbage. If something needs repair, please let me or Kojo know about it.
I also want to make sure you know of some room changes. Room #104 of the CE building is now our Sunday School/Crafts Supply room. By the way - in case you did not know, the CE Bldg. is the one nearest the playground alongside the large north parking lot. All the Sunday School and craft supplies are now stored in room #104. Please do not leave small children in room #104 unsupervised. If we keep a watchful and friendly eye open, we will also be able keep paint and chalk in their containers. These substances certainly do not belong on floors or walls!!!
We also have a new multi-purpose room. Actually, it is not "new," it simply has a new name. The large divided room (#205 & #206) on the second floor of the CE Bldg is this multi-purpose room. In the past, this large room was used frequently by the Youth group and for Sunday School classes. As you know, we are presently meeting there for Pastor John Rantal's Sunday School class on worship. The Scouts and the Co-op are also using the multi-purpose room during the week.
Because the multi-purpose room is needed for the new adult Sunday School class, the Youth Sunday School class is now meeting in the Administration Building. Wayne Bowman continues to teach that class.
Another room change involves the WIC room. We are no longer using the WIC room as a general multi-purpose room. The WIC organization needs a dedicated space for its own use. The WIC will use their named room and set it up for their purposes as their budget allows. No other group will be allowed to use the WIC room (that is, room #200 and #201 on the 2nd floor of the CE Bldg.) unless the WIC or the Facilities Deacons approve it. The Richardson co-op has been approved to use room #201 for its classes, and we will use room #201 for our Sunday School classes after the Fall quarter. The WIC room has already been repainted, and there will be other changes.
