Pastor’s Corner

By Pete Deison

It is a joy to be serving our Lord with you each week.  Your response to the Treasure Rooms of Grace has been very encouraging.  I remain convinced that we live as paupers rather than the royalty we are.  We are definitely sinners as well.  Paul made a profound statement to Timothy just before his death, “It is a trustworthy statement that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners–of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy...”.  We are sinners, yet just prior to that he said, “The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”  These two thoughts are not contradictory.  Rather, both are equally true.  I am a sinner, yet I am saved and sanctified by grace.

Knowing the first keeps me real and humble.  Knowing the second keeps me hopeful and active for the Kingdom.  Paul then goes on to tell Timothy, “fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience.”

My prayer is that once we complete the Treasure Rooms of Grace series you will draw more deeply on these riches to fight the good fight.
